Happy Valentine’s Day! 💗
We begin our new week in Hebrews 2 together– “Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.” We are writing Lamentations 3:22,23 this morning, reminding us of God’s faithfulness and fresh mercies each morning, and .then we practice Psalm 103:1-21. I’m thinking that after we finish this memory passage next week, we’ll move on to a New Testament passage.
Streams in the Desert has “Rejoice Evermore” as its theme–Satan still dreads, as he oft did of yore, our singing much more than our sighing. Tozer writes today about “Deliverance from ‘Me'”– “If He is to save the man, He must save him from himself.” Finally in Spurgeon’s devotional, we read about “Mercy to the Undeserving”–“The truster above all men feels himself to be a sinner; and lo, mercy is prepared for him: he knows himself to have no deservings, but mercy comes in and keeps house for him on a liberal scale.
Our prayer scripture for this first day of the week is Jeremiah 29:11, assuring us that God has ordained His plans for us from the beginning and that they will always lead to peace if we follow them. We have hymn texts MWF this week, and today’s (in celebration of the theme of love) is “How Deep the Father’s Love” by Stuart Townend. A favorite text for me.
