Greetings and Happy Thursday! 📖🌻☕
This morning we are reading 1 Peter 2 as part of Week 45 in our schedule as we aim toward reading through the New Testament in a year. Today Peter introduces one of his favorite words: “precious”. We continue memorizing Matthew 5:3-4 as we work through the Beatitudes, and our scripture writing portion from The Ruffled Mango has us considering Ruth as we write Ruth 1:16-17.
Today in Streams in the Desert, we are reminded that “The Just Shall Live By Faith”–“Believe God’s word and power more than you believe your own feelings and experiences. Your Rock is Christ, and it is not the Rock which ebbs and flows, but your sea.”
Tozer exhorts us this morning to be “Seekers After God”–“But many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it, and their questing hearts find what they seek at last. The grace of God meets them as they return and changes them from what they are sorry they have been, into what they have so fervently longed to become.”
Spurgeon encourages us to “Walk in the Light”–“Shake off thy depression, dear brother. Abide not in the dark, but abide in the light. In Jesus is thy hope, thy joy, thy Heaven. Look to Him, to Him only, and thou shalt rejoice as the birds rejoice at sunrise, and as the angels rejoice before the throne.”
We finish with John 12:46 to inspire our prayer time, and the anonymous hymn text (one of my favorites), “Fairest Lord Jesus”.
