Thankful Thursday! I’m thankful for ladies who want to learn and grow together with me here in our Quiet Time Corner! 📖🌻☕ Our Proverbs reading is in chapter 2 today, and we finish reading Psalm 18 by looking at verses 43-50. Our scripture writing is found in Job 27:1-6, remarkable that he is still speaking of maintaining his integrity in the wake of all the trials and losses he experienced! We practice Proverbs 2:1-4 again today in preparation for our little quiz tomorrow!
Days of Heaven on Earth explains what it looks like to walk in Christ–“Therefore, Christian life is not to come to Christ to save you, and then go on and work out your sanctification yourself, but “as ye have received Christ Jesus, the Lord, so to walk in Him,” just as dependent and as simply trusting as for your pardon and salvation.”
My Utmost for His Highest asks the question, “Are You Obsessed by Something?”–“A child’s awareness is so absorbed in his mother that although he is not consciously thinking of her, when a problem arises, the abiding relationship is that with the mother. In that same way, we are to “live and move and have our being” in God (Acts 17:28), looking at everything in relation to Him, because our abiding awareness of Him continually pushes itself to the forefront of our lives.”
We end today looking at the grammar of Philippians 1, understanding that Paul can have confidence in verse 6, based upon what he observes in vv. 3-5. And we “sing” Isaac Watts’ hymn based on Psalm 133 on the theme of fellowship and unity:
Blest are the sons of peace,
Whose hearts and hopes are one,
Whose kind designs to serve and please
Through all their actions run.
May we be the catalyst for “good and pleasant” unity in our churches. 🙂
