Another activity that brings the family together is dinner. Daily dinner/supper when everyone sits down together, and share about the events in each person’s day is important. Make the rule of no cell phones or tablets at the table, so everyone concentrates on each other.
If it isn’t possible to have daily dinner time all together, because of work schedules and such, then try for a special dinner once a week. In our house, that would be Friday evening, when we welcome in the Sabbath.
Our favorite Friday evening supper is blueberry cobbler, or apple crisp. We like to light candles, and dim the lights in the rest of the house. It’s even more special when we play some soft instrumental Christian music in the background. We can share the blessings God has provided throughout the week.
It’s harder to manage a weekly dinner when the children have grown and move out on their own. Sometimes those meals will happen only for special occasions (birthdays or holidays), but once a month would be pretty special.
