Here we are, starting off a new week! ๐๐ปโ
Week 47 of our reading schedule finds us in 1 John 1 today. I memorized this when I was in college, but I definitely don’t trust my memory enough to recite rather than read this morning! I’m looking at using this for our next memory passage when we finish the Beatitudes. Speaking of which, we are memorizing Matthew 5:3-6 this week. Our scripture writing passage has us us considering a women we have perhaps not thought a whole lot about–Simon Peter’s mother-in-law (Luke 4:38-39).
Streams in the Desert concerns our prayers being “According to our Faith”–“God would have us believe His Word without other confirmation, and then He is ready to give us โaccording to our faith.โ
Tozer helps us look at “Christ, the Sacrifice Receiver”–“Why am I giving you all these passages of Scripture? Because I want to tell you who it is who says, “Present your bodies to me. Take your cross and follow me. Give yourself wholly to me. Surrender to me. Concentrate upon me and learn to be fascinated by me.” He is the only One who can say it.”
Spurgeon in Faith’s Checkbook today is exhorting us to “Avoid That Slip”–Oh for grace to walk this day without a single stumble! It is not enough that we do not actually fall; our cry should be that we may not make the smallest slip with our feet, but may at the last adore Him “who is able to keep us from stumbling.”
We close with Proverbs 3:23 to guide our prayer time, and a reading of “Faith and the World” from The Valley of Vision.
